Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 17, 2026

FamilyProtect (“FamilyProtect,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) helps families organize their financial and legal documents — insurance policies, PPF/EPF and other provident fund accounts, bank accounts, and property records — so that information can be handed over to trusted contacts in an emergency. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through familyprotect.in (the “Site”), including our early-access waitlist, and how we use, share, and protect it.

FamilyProtect is currently in a pre-launch, early-access stage. Today, the Site collects only the information needed to run our waitlist and referral program. This policy will be expanded and updated before we launch the full document-organization product, which will involve additional categories of sensitive personal and financial information.

1. Information we collect

When you join the waitlist, we collect:

  • Your first and last name.
  • Your email address or phone number.
  • The category of document you tell us matters most to you (e.g. insurance, PPF/EPF, bank accounts).
  • Referral information, such as the referral code you signed up with and the unique referral code generated for you.

We may also automatically collect limited technical information — such as IP address, browser type, and general usage data — through our hosting provider's standard server logs.

We use Mixpanel, a product analytics service, to understand how visitors use the Site — for example, which pages and buttons are viewed or clicked, and how a visitor arrived at the Site (including, where present, campaign identifiers from the URL such as UTM parameters or a Meta/Facebook click ID). This analytics data is tied to a random device identifier, not your name or contact details, unless you separately join the waitlist. We do not currently run third-party advertising pixels or retargeting cookies on the Site.

We also use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to measure traffic and understand how the Site is used. Clarity records anonymized session activity — mouse movement, clicks, scrolling and page navigation — and aggregates it into heatmaps and session replays. Text you type into form fields is masked by default and is not captured in these recordings. Both services set first-party cookies on your device for this purpose.

2. How we use your information

  • To create and manage your place on the waitlist.
  • To contact you about early access, onboarding, and product updates.
  • To operate our referral program, including tracking and crediting successful referrals.
  • To understand demand for specific features so we can prioritize what we build first.
  • To understand how visitors use the Site and which marketing content and campaigns are effective, using the analytics described in Section 1.
  • To maintain the security, integrity, and proper functioning of the Site.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

3. Where your information is stored

Waitlist information is stored in a MongoDB Atlas database and the Site is hosted on Vercel. Analytics data described in Section 1 is stored by Mixpanel, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. These providers act as data processors on our behalf and maintain their own technical and organizational security measures. Data submitted to the Site is encrypted in transit via HTTPS/TLS.

4. Sharing of information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only with:

  • Service providers who host our infrastructure, store our data, or provide analytics (currently Vercel, MongoDB Atlas, Mixpanel, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity), under confidentiality obligations.
  • Authorities, if required to comply with a legal obligation, court order, or governmental request.
  • A successor entity, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy continuing to apply to your information.

5. Data retention

We retain waitlist information for as long as needed to operate the waitlist and referral program, or until you ask us to delete it. If you do not proceed with onboarding after receiving access, we will delete or anonymize your information within a reasonable period thereafter.

6. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Ask us to delete your information or withdraw your consent and be removed from the waitlist.
  • Ask how your information has been used and who it has been shared with.

To exercise any of these rights, reach out to us using the contact details on this Site. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures — including encryption in transit and access controls on our databases — to protect the information you share with us. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's privacy

The Site is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as FamilyProtect evolves, particularly as we launch new features that involve storing your financial and legal documents. We will update the “Last updated” date above when we do, and for material changes we will make reasonable efforts to notify waitlist members by email.

10. Contact us

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your information, contact us using the details on this Site.
